Meet Sadie

Sadie is a proud St. Louisan. After obtaining her master's degree in social work, she was excited about the opportunity to serve students in the city she loves.  Sadie believes that St. Louis will thrive when schools are placed at the center of our communities. 
 
Currently serving as the Assistant Director of the UMSL Bridge Program, Sadie supports students across the St. Louis region as they prepare for post-secondary opportunities. She is passionate about ensuring her students have the resources and support necessary to succeed. It is her vision to foster an educational system in the city of St. Louis that focuses on providing every student with the highest quality learning experience in an environment that supports their individual growth.

After serving as a Peace Corps Education Volunteer in Cape Verde and Mozambique, Sadie returned to the United States with a strong desire to apply what she learned about community development to help better facilitate positive social change back home. Sadie has spent the last decade:

• Advocating for educational policy change 
• Providing mental health services in schools
• Organizing youth empowered community outreach projects
• Directing student success programming for low-income and First-Generation college students
• Collaborating with K-12 and higher education professionals to increase opportunities for students transitioning to post-secondary institutions

Sadie's focus has and will continue to be on the overall wellbeing of students. It is her belief that we must turn our attention to how we can best support children’s development, build on their strengths, engage them as lifelong learners, and empower them to reach their full potential. This is the approach that Sadie has employed throughout her career and it is the toolkit that she will bring to St. Louis Public Schools.
